    26 June 2017 to 7 July 2017
Arrival on the 25th of June and departure on the 7th of July.

    Description

This winter school will offer a basic introduction to computational and simulation methods used in science based on the Matlab and Python programming languages. The school is aimed at 3rd year, honours level and starting MSc students in physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and engineering having little or no programming experience. Lectures on the computational methods are complemented by hands-on computer lab sessions for an effective learning experience.

    Topics to be covered include:
    Introduction to Matlab
    Introduction to Python
    Approximation methods
    Differential equations
    Numerical linear algebra
    Spectral analysis
    Stochastic processes
    Monte Carlo methods
