WITS Node Seminar: Prof. Joao Rodrigues (University of the Witwatersrand)

The National Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Centre for Theoretical Physics, School of Physics, would like to invite to its coming talk in the theoretical physics seminar series, entitled:

"Large N systems and their invariant description"

to be presented by Prof. Joao Rodrigues (University of the Witwatersrand)

Abstract: The general properties of a method which, in principle, is able to described the dynamics of the invariant sector of the large N limit of a variety of physical systems is reviewed. Examples of both matrix and vector valued systems for which this approach can be carried out explicitly, and their link to AdS/CFT, are discussed. For matrix models of an even number of hermitean matrices, an invariant (radial) subsector is identified, and the large N radial eigenvalue density distribution for integrals of several hermitean matrices is obtained.
