    Below appears a summary:

The Soweto Science Centre has been assisting young learners since 2010 and has been playing an ever increasing role in thousands of learners' lives.

"A young scientist from Soweto could discover a new star or planet", that is the dream of Prof Azwinndini Muronga, the Director of the University of Johannesburg Soweto Science Centre.

The aim of the centre is to make science and mathematics accessible to young learners from less privileged backgrounds. Extra classes have assisted learners to obtain distinctions in their maths and science exams.

The Centre has a "Mobile Lab" that visits schools to teach them more about energy saving.

Another exciting project for 2013 is the "Hands-On-Universe Quest". This project makes it possible for Soweto based school children to get access to NASA databases in order to learn more about constellations". Young learners also get to opportunity to learn about information technology and gain computer skills.
