WITS Node Seminar: Dr. Katharine Leney (University of the Witwatersrand)

The National Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Centre for Theoretical Physics, School of Physics, would like to invite to its coming talk in the high-energy physics seminar series, entitled:

"Searches for new physics with taus at the ATLAS experiment"

to be presented by Dr. Katharine Leney (University of the Witwatersrand)

Abstract: I will provide an overview of searches for new physics with taus leptons in the final state at the ATLAS experiment. I will civer searches for heavy particles decaying to taus pairs, decays of third generation leptoquarks decaying to a tau and a b-jet, and supersymmetric particles decaying to final states including one or more taus. I will also report on progress for searches for SM and MSSM Higgs bosons in the tau decay channels. The studies reported use the data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at sqrt (s) = 7 and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energy collisions, provided by the LHC in the period 2011-2012.

    Date: Tuesday, 7th May 2013
