UCT Seminar: Dr Spencer Wheaton (UCT Physics)

Message received from Andre Peshier (UCT):

    Dear all,

We start the colloquium series in the second semester with a talk by Spencer Wheaton, UCT Physics:

    Creating Simulations that Teach
Easy Java Simulations (EJS) is a JAVA authoring tool that facilitates the development of computer simulations particularly for use in physics and astronomy teaching. In this presentation, the basic features of EJS will be introduced. Simulations drawn from the extensive open source EJS library will be used to illustrate its power in creating simulations that engage students and build understanding. Several simulations written at UCT, specifically for PHY1031F/PHY1032S and PHY3021F, will demonstrate what can be achieved with EJS within a fairly short timeframe.
    when: Wed, 25 July 2012, 12:00 to 13:00
where: Duncan Elliott Seminar Room, RW James Building

    All welcome!
