    WITS Node Seminar: Dr Dimitrios Giataganas (University of the Witwatersrand)

    The National Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Centre for Theoretical Physics, School of Physics, would like to invite to its coming talk in the theory seminar series, entitled:

    "Probing strongly coupled anisotropic plasma"

    to be presented by Dr. Dimitrios Giataganas (University of the

    Abstract: In this talk we present and use an anisotropic gauge/gravity duality, coming from a consistent deformation of N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills. It corresponds to a dual quark-gluon plasma not in equilibrium and with anisotropic momentum distribution. Firstly we describe the anisotropic gauge/gravity duality. Then we find the jet quenching, the diffusion time and the static force along the different anisotropic directions. We compare them each other and with the isotropic case. We finally comment on our results and elaborate on their similarities and differences with the weakly coupled plasmas and data.
