    WITS Node Seminar: Dr. Piotr Surowka (Free University of Brussels)

    The National Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Centre for Theoretical Physics, School of Physics, would like to invite to its coming talk in the theory seminar series, entitled:

    "Triangle anomalies and transport in QFTs at finite temperture"

    to be presented by Dr. Piotr Surowka (Free University of Brussels)

    Abstract: I will sketch the ongoing program leading towards understanding QFT anomalies at finite temperature. First of all I will present how gauge and gravitational anomalies arise in gas of free fremions by the modification of the density of states. I will show that this modification may be understood in terms of Berry phases. The result will be supported by CFT calculation of the generating functional for a Fermi gas on a sphere by means of state- operator correspondence. Such computation generalizes zero temperature results developed in 80s by Witten et al. Finally I will skech possible extensions of the formalism, applications to hydrodynamic systems, and necessary developments to be understood.
