UCT Seminar: Dr Gyorgy Wolf, KFKI Budapest

On Wednesday 28 March 2012, Dr Gyorgy Wolf, KFKI Budapest, will give a talk

Linear sigma model with vector mesons

Effective field theories play a very important role in the investigation of the strong interaction, since in the fundamental theory (QCD) lots of questions cannot be answered directly due to the complexity of the model. However, in effective field theories, which possess the same global symmetries (chiral symmetry) as QCD, the meson/hadron spectrum can be investigated thoroughly. A three flavor linear sigma model with vector and axial-vector mesons is discussed. The question of parametrization, as well as the resulting meson masses are presented.

    when: Wed, 28 March 2012, 12:00 to 13:00
where: Duncan Elliott Seminar Room, RW James Building

    All welcome!
