UCT Talk: Ms Ayoko Oga, a witness of the Fukushima disaster, and Ms Ferrial Adams, Greenpeace South Africa, will give a presentation

    Dear all,

Ms Ayoko Oga, a witness of the Fukushima disaster, and Ms Ferrial Adams, Greenpeace South Africa, will give a presentation

    Lessons from Fukushima
This March will mark one year since the nuclear disaster at Fukushima in Japan. People are still suffering from this catastrophe, proving that governments and the nuclear industry have not been honest about the risks of nuclear reactors to the public. And yet, South Africa is barreling ahead with plans to build 6 new nuclear reactors by 2030. If we do not challenge this system now, the next Fukushima could happen to South Africa. To learn more about the risks that every South African will FACE if we go down a nuclear path, come and listen to an eyewitness account of living through Fukushima from Ms Ayoko Oga, as well as the lessons we can all learn from the disaster.

    when: Thu, 1 March 2012, 13:00 to 14:00
where: Lecture Room B, RW James Building

    All welcome!
