    WITS Seminar

The National Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Centre for Theoretical Physics, School of Physics, would like to invite to its coming talk in the theory seminar series, entitled:

    "Analytic Density Functionals"

to be presented by Prof Steven Karataglidis (University of Johannesburg)

Abstract: A systematic strategy for the calculation of density functionals consists in coding information about the density and the energy into polynomials of the degrees of freedom of wave functions.
Density functionals and Kohn-Sham potentials (KSPs) are then obtained by standard elimination procedures of such degrees of freedom between the polynomials. Numerical examples illustrate the formalism. I will also discuss the implications for the KS assumptions and potentials derived therefrom.

    Date: Tuesday, 6th September 2011
Venue: Frank Nabarro Lecture Theatre P216
